| It is our intention to help make every transaction a safe and secure
process. Of course in any and every business there is somebody out there
which desires to separate you from your money or merchandise. This guide
is meant to help everybody keep their eyes open thru every step of their
transaction, Both buyers and sellers If you are selling your vehicle
and somebody emails you and offers to give you your asking price, No
questions asked and in certain occasions offers to send you more than
your asking price. Either to "pay the transportation company" upon pick
up of your car. Or they desire you to send the overage to their "client"
over seas so they can pay for transportation. If you fall for this scam
you WILL be out your vehicle, your asking price, And the monies you send
to this "client" Usually this "extra money" is desired to be sent to
Nigeria or Ghana. This has happened to me on three occasions while
trying to sell my 74 Jaguar XJ6L. Of course I responded with the obvious
reaction that once a certified cashiers check CLEARS the bank and is
legitimate, Then and only then will the interest in my vehicle be
released. This person is still trying to get me to release my car to
them and I have yet to see any sign of a legitimate check. As I write
this there is an email in my mailbox from this person. Do not fall for
this. Most serious buyers of classic autos that buy long distance will
have a certified appraiser arrange to come to your car to inspect your
car before even starting to negotiate the deal. This is perfectly
acceptable. There are many many legitimate appraisers that will be
objective and inspect cars. These are paid for by the buyer.
As a buyer of any vehicle long distance there are certain things that
you should do to ensure your security if you can not personally inspect
and negotiate the sale. Find a certified appraiser locally to the car
you and serious in buying. They are listed in the pone book and listed
here too. As I get more Information I will post them Most Certified
inspectors charge from $100.00 up depending on the distance from the
vehicle and the intensity of the inspection. It is wise to have the
inspector verify the legitimacy of the documentation and Vehicle ID
Number. Some of these inspectors will do a mechanical inspection too. Of
course they will charge for this service too. I will compile a list of
certified inspectors as I get information on them
Once you have had a vehicle inspected, Documents verified, Etc. And
you have negotiated the price then you need to arrange for
transportation of your new investment. Do this your self. The seller may
suggest a local service which you can check out yourself of get on the
internet and find one your self or check out the recommended service.
Legitimate sellers will help you make this a smooth transaction. Be
Careful. I will compile a list of
transportation companies as I get
information on them.
The most important thing is to be careful. Many many vehicles are
bought and sold long distance and all parties are happy. I personally
know many people that have purchased vehicles long distance and been
very very happy with their new investment. All it takes is one crook to
separate you from your money and your vehicle. There are many many
forged cashiers checks being used be very careful. |
